O. Shelley Kemp is a Human Resource expert specializing in Training, Employee Life Cycle and Talent Acquisition for more than 15 years. She’s held many titles throughout her career, including Talent Acquisition Business Partner, Generalist, Trainer, Workplace Coach, and Associate Vice President, succeeding in post-secondary education, global transportation, banking and finance, and currently, professional sports and entertainment. Shelley was awarded a 2023 Kindle Award for her work both professionally and within the midsouth community. Her mission is to “Bring People Together through Education, Creating Connections, and Maximizing the Human Potential” by means of mindful communications, authentic leadership, and helping others manage change.
Recently named HR Professional of Excellence in 2023 and awarded Innovative HR Team in 2023 by the State of Tennessee Society for Human Resource Managers, Shelley currently works as the HR Business Partner in Business Operations for the Memphis Grizzlies but has stretched her gifts, experiences, and passion for serving others further serving outside of the basketball court and arena as Keynote Speaker, Mindfulness Trainer and Art Practitioner, and PIVOT Coach, helping people navigate change during overwhelm and stress.
As a Certified Workplace & Mindfulness Coach and Senior Certified Professional (SCP) in Human Resources, Shelley thrives on helping people leaders and individual contributors maximize how they work, collaborate, and communicate.
Shelley is the creator of The PIVOT Principle and Routine, author of a leadership book series for children which includes “Brown Like You,” “Dancing with Daddy,” and “I’m Not a Baby Anymore,” creator and host of the 2020 podcast “Coach Yourself! Creating Daily PIVOT Routines to Transform Your Work, Home & Self.”
Although raised in Texas, Shelley has been a proud Memphian for more than 20 years. As a life-long learner, she holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management from Crichton College, a Master’s Degree in HR from Central Michigan University, a Certificate in Leadership Graduate Studies from Northcentral University, and is completing her Doctor of Education in Instructional and Curriculum Design from Liberty University. Shelley and her husband, Andre, are founders of a non-profit resource and service organization called Bringing Love Home (BLH) that focuses on providing resources, career and personal development, and assistance to widows, single mothers and children. Shelley and Andre are recent empty-nesters and enjoy life with their 76lb rescue, Chelsie, and 12lb micro-mini Royal Frenchel, Cookie.
